Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health arrives after the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
