'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Ski Resort Inferno

The families of teenagers lost after a deadly fire at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and requesting any details about their family members online.

The inferno engulfed the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Circulated images reveal the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have warned that it could take an extended period to identify the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and injured another over a hundred. A spokesperson said on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with work ongoing to name the final individuals.

In the meantime, relatives have been taking to social media to request information about their loved ones who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Appeals for the Missing

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his mother.

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also present on that night, according to media.

Her brother has shared an appeal on social media, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Officials from her other nation say they are closely watching the situation.
